Deputy Chief Executive
Carmel McCarthy (BA (Hons) MSc MCIH)

Carmel joined Family in 2007. She has worked in the housing sector for over 20 years in a number of different organisations across England and Wales.

 

Carmel is currently on the Birmingham Social Housing Partnership (BSHP) executive where she also occupies the role of treasurer. She is also a Board member for Marches Housing Association, part of the Jephson Housing Group.

Rob Ellis (ACEA, IFA, ACIH)


Appointed in November 1989, Rob initially trained with a medium-sized accountancy practice before moving to a large multi-national practice. He subsequently worked in financial analysis at Jaguar Cars PLC and Head of Finance at Spiral Housing Association.

Assistant Director Homes & Neighbourhoods
Gail Newbold (MCIH)

Appointed April 2008, Gail has been working in social housing for almost 30 years.  Gail started her career with the Orbit Housing Group where she became a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing and had a number of roles including Assistant Director to the Chief Executive and Head of Operations at Orbit First Step. Gail then moved to Midland Heart as Regional Manager before moving to Family as Head of Housing and later Assistant Director.  Gail is also a Member of the Strategic Board at CVCHA and also Chair of their Operational Board.

 

As Assistant Director Homes & Neighbourhoods, Gail is responsible for the delivery of our Planned and Reactive maintenance services; the management of the Income and Neighbourhoods Teams; Leasehold and Supported Housing teams and the Estates and Voids Teams.

 
Assistant Director People & Performance
Jackie Molloy (FCIPD, MA)

Appointed October 2011, Jackie has 9 years’ experience in social housing, having previously worked as a Head of People and Performance at Bromsgrove District Housing Trust.

Prior to moving into social housing, Jackie worked for Pertemps People Development Group, working on a variety of welfare to work initiatives as an operational manager before establishing their human resources function.

Jackie is responsible for the effective delivery of central support services to include human resources, customer relations, information services and business improvement and intelligence.

 
Assistant Director Finance
Richard Wilson (BSc (Econ))


Appointed September 2011, Richard began his career in the NHS before working for a number of local authorities – Daventry District Council, District of the Wrekin Council and Stroud District Council – between 1984 and 2007.

 

He joined the Local Better Regulation Office in 2007 at its inception as a non-departmental public body (“quango”) as Director of Resources. Richard is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) and holds a BSc (Econ) in Accountancy and Economics from Cardiff University.

 

 
Head of Community Investment
Claire Hardwick (BSoc Sc, Dip SW)

Claire was appointed in October 2007 and has over 20 years experience of regenerating communities. Initially Claire got involved as an active resident herself, campaigning for investment into Ladywood, whilst studying for her degree. She joined PEP as a Project Worker and later became a Consultant with the Midlands Team. Claire was then seconded to South Birmingham PCT’s SRB5 Family Support programme as Project Development Manager to lead on community engagement.

 

Prior to joining Family, Claire worked for Pertemps People Development Group, initially as Director of Working Neighbourhoods in Newtown and Middlesbrough, and then as an Area Operations Director, with a particular focus on developing inter-agency working, including European funded initiatives.

 

Within her role at Family, Claire is responsible for delivering Community Investment within regeneration and resident involvement activities.
