Family held the event for staff on Monday 21st May (Diversity Day) as a drop–in style event throughout the day. We had fun games and challenges for staff to get involved in to gain greater insight into the diversity of our customers and workforce. We also ran competitions and quizzes in addition to bite-size language learning sessions in Swedish, Italian and British Sign Language (BSL).

We sent our submission to the HDN along with photos from the day and here’s what they had to say…

‘We loved your submission and thought the range and quality of your activities was great – most importantly it looked like you all had a lot of fun doing it. We intend to recognise the work you have done in the coverage due to appear in 24 Housing and also in the newsletter we send out to our members.

I really hope that you enter again next year as we thought it sounded like an excellent day that engaged your staff in equality and diversity in a really positive and fun way’.

Victoria Young Family’s Business Improvement Manager, organiser of the event said “Although disappointed not to have won the competition we at Family are delighted to have had our efforts recognised, to finish runner up in a national competition is a fantastic achievement.

“We just hope we can build on the good work already in place at Family in relation to equality and diversity and perhaps even win next year!”
