Adam Carey
We’re delighted to introduce Adam Carey, our temporary head of community investment. Adam joined us in July and will provide a year’s maternity cover for Claire Hardwick.
He was formerly director of strategy and community engagement at Urban Living, the Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder. Prior to that he worked as a director at European regeneration consultancy Ecorys, and he was a founding director of CSC Partnership which provided research and project management for the public and voluntary sectors. Adam has also served as a local councillor for Sandwell Council.
He said: “Family has an excellent track record, not only in engaging residents but also in providing regeneration initiatives and projects that deliver what residents need - whether that is tackling fuel poverty or increasing work and training opportunities.
“In the coming year we face the challenge of benefits changes and cuts to public sector funding, so it will be vital to support our residents on low incomes. We will continue to seek sources of external funding that will deliver projects with tangible benefits for people and communities.”
Deputy chief executive Carmel McCarthy, said: “The work of our multi-award winning community investment and resident involvement team is one of our unique features. From creating Birmingham’s first eco village, to being named as one of the Tenant Services Authority’s national co-regulation champions, we place enormous importance on working with residents to improve prospects for local communities.
“Adam is a fantastic fit for Family and I’m sure that he’ll be an inspirational team leader.”
