Housing Benefit

Housing benefit could help you to pay your rent. It is paid by your local Council, who will decide how much you are entitled to based on information you give them about your circumstances and your income.

If you claim housing benefit it is your responsibility to provide the Council with all the information they need to work out how much you will receive. If you don’t, the Council will cancel your claim and you will be responsible for paying your rent to us.

If your circumstances change you must let the Council know straight away as it may affect the amount of housing benefit you are entitled to and you may have to repay any over payment of benefit.
