How your rent is calculated

The type of tenancy you have affects the way the rent is calculated.

If you have an Assured Tenancy, the amount is based on the type and the size of the property you live in.  Assured rents are reviewed annually, with any changes being implemented on the first Monday of April each year.  Rent Increase Notices will be issued to residents with at least 28 days notice before the new charges are implemented giving residents adequate notice of any new changes proposed.

If you have a Secured Tenancy, rent is reviewed every two years.  Family Housing will apply to the Rent Officer to register a new rent.  The officer will fix the new rent and you will be given four weeks notice of any increase.
